Frequently asked questions

Find clear answers about how Tascan Support Services works with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants across Tasmania and Canberra, ACT. We are dedicated to providing transparent, respectful, and reliable support tailored to your daily needs.

Everything you need to know

Whether you are exploring our personal care, domestic assistance, or transport services, we believe in open communication. Here are the answers to our most common queries regarding funding, worker qualifications, and starting your support plan.

Can I use my NDIS funding with Tascan Support Services?

Yes. Tascan Care is currently an unregistered NDIS provider, which means we can provide supports to participants whose funding is self-managed or plan-managed.

If you are self-managed, you can freely choose unregistered providers, pay for services, and claim the eligible amount directly from the NDIS. If you are plan-managed, your registered plan manager can pay us directly on your behalf.

What personal care support do you provide?

We provide respectful, person-centred assistance with everyday personal routines while upholding your dignity and independence. This can include help with personal hygiene, showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other daily living tasks outlined in your agreed support plan.

Can you provide transport to appointments and the community?

Yes. We can assist participants with safe transport to medical appointments, grocery shopping, community social activities, and other everyday destinations. Pick-up from your home can be arranged, and all travel arrangements, vehicle accessibility needs, and costs are clarified before services begin.

What domestic assistance services are available?

Our domestic support covers essential household activities to maintain a safe, comfortable, and hygienic home environment. This includes light cleaning, vacuuming, laundry, ironing, meal preparation, and general home tidying.

Are you an NDIS Registered Provider?

Tascan Care is currently an unregistered NDIS provider.

This means we can provide supports to participants who are self-managed or plan-managed, subject to their NDIS plan, funding arrangements and the applicable NDIS rules.

What screening checks do your support workers undergo?

We take safety and compliance seriously. Before commencing work, all support workers complete thorough screening checks appropriate to their role, including the mandatory NDIS Worker Screening Check, police history checks and education. We maintain strict compliance records for our entire team.

Are your support workers trained and qualified?

Yes. We ensure all workers possess the required skills, certifications, and experience to provide quality care. Our multidisciplinary team also includes AHPRA-registered nurses with professional healthcare experience for participants who require clinical oversight or specific health competencies.

Where do you provide support services?

Tascan Support Services operates in Tasmania (with our primary base in Launceston) as well as Canberra, ACT. We deliver person-centred supports directly in participants' homes and within local communities across these regions.
